The Bare Knuckle Boxing Ring
I cycle up in the leadmines all the time on my Mtb and for years we had a route called the Boxing ring.
One day whilst up there I asked why it was so called and was absolutely thrilled to be brought up to this very secret spot where Bare Knuckle fights used to take place.
If you look at the photo I have shot it as a panorama as I wanted to convey the hidden nature of it and also the "benches" that some of the spectators would have frequented. This place is very creepy and we found used gumshields in the ground there. I would love to witness a proper digging match up there sometime but an Arsonist torched the wood a couple of years ago and it's all now gone. Very glad I made the effort to photograph it.
